Patients often tell me how much Lance has done for them and how much they love him and are thankful he is there when they need him.
Lance graduated as a registered nurse in 1978 and gained his FNP in 1999. For the last 20 years, he has served at the rural health clinics of West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. The purpose of this clinic is to increase access to healthcare in rural areas.
The population served by the clinic consists of underserved patients, often uninsured or underinsured. Over my many years as an ER nurse, I have met many patients who state that “Mr. Waldmeier” is their primary provider. Patients often tell me how much he has done for them, how much they love him, and how thankful they are that he is there when they need him.
One story I learned from Lance while inquiring about the population he serves, particularly where his patients come from, involved a patient he followed from Alexandria with Hepatitis C. He explained that he took on this patient because no one else was willing to provide care. This demonstrates his dedication to caring for patients that others will not.
