My mother cannot talk, but once we were home, she was adamant she needed to write. She wrote, “I will never forget Lacey; she was my chosen angel.”
Lacey was a phenomenal Nurse. My mother was diagnosed with ALS and started to have breathing complications at home. She was admitted to 6SW. Lacey was the nurse for the last three days of our stay there. She was so kind and empathetic, compassionate, confident, and patient. She was an advocate for my mother and our family. She worked very hard to keep my mother comfortable and calm. She made it feel like she was the only patient there. She washed her hair and made sure she was clean every day to make my mother feel like a real person.

My mom couldn’t stop writing about how amazing Lacey was and how gentle she was with her. While there, Lacey never rushed and took all the time needed to explain things that my parents didn’t understand very well. She also assisted us in getting her home with ambulance transportation. I can’t even explain how amazing Lacey was and how much support she gave us through this situation.

My mother cannot talk, but once we were home, she was adamant she needed to write. She wrote, “I will never forget Lacey; she was my chosen angel.” While we enjoy the last moments of her life, we will continue to be thankful and honored to have had Lacey be a part of this difficult and unexpected journey.

We can’t thank you enough, Lacey. You’ve made a huge difference in all our lives, and we will carry that with us forever. Also, my mother insisted that the DAISY nomination be completed.
