Lacey’s compassion for her patients and dedication to her profession are second to none!
On April 14, 2025, I went into IUH Bloomington for a needle biopsy on my neck. Lacey Edie was the Nurse who took care of me that day. Lacey was very friendly, and I was reassured by her smile. She made me feel at ease and comfortable. The needle biopsy itself was horribly painful, and so the MD stopped and offered light sedation. He felt like it was too close to some nerves, and he was hitting them, making it so painful. Unfortunately, there wasn’t room in the schedule for the recovery time, so they offered to reschedule. When they rescheduled the procedure, they did so without sedation but with a prescription of Valium to take 30 minutes prior.
On May 6, 2025, I reached out to my physician because I was extremely nervous about having it done again and feeling the horrible pain that I had previously experienced. I normally handle pain very well, and I can work through it, but the thought of a second time was too much. The office reached out to IR and let them know about my anxiety and advised me to go ahead and keep the appointment, take the valium, unless someone called me to let me know otherwise.
On May 7, 2025, the day of the procedure, Lacey called me to let me know that she saw my name on the schedule and had heard about my anxiety, so she requested to take my case, since I was familiar with her. Lacey stated that she had it all worked out and even had a room that was going to be empty for me to recover in, so she would be right there with me. I arrived for my procedure, and Lacey took me back, which was very comforting! She spoke with everyone who was in the room with me, so they were aware of my anxiety. Everyone was so patient and kind and was awesome at talking to me through it. They did do a light sedation, and Lacey was right here holding my hand and talking me through the procedure until it was done. She was amazing!

Lacey has a shining personality, which also shows how much she really loves her job and cares for her patients. I’m not sure I would have made it through the second procedure without her. She supported me not only physically but mentally, and I will be forever grateful to her!!
