What makes her care even more extraordinary is that the following day, which was also her day off, Krystal took time out of her personal life to stop by and check on me. She even brought me a get-well gift, something I never expected and was completely overwhelmed by.
I would like to formally recognize Nurse Krystal for her exceptional compassion, advocacy, and patient care. I was admitted to the hospital after hitting my head and suffering a concussion. During my stay, I was also diagnosed with gallbladder issues that required surgery, which unfortunately resulted in pancreatitis. I was in an extreme amount of pain, overwhelmed, and terrified.
Despite clearly expressing how much pain and discomfort I was in, I felt unheard by much of the staff, including doctors. My pain was not being taken seriously, and I reached a point where I felt completely hopeless and was considering checking myself out of the hospital. That is when Nurse Krystal came into my room, and everything changed. Krystal was not even scheduled to work that day. She came in on her day off as a floating nurse, and from the very beginning, she showed a level of care that I will never forget. She listened to me, truly listened, and believed me when I explained the pain I was experiencing. She reassured me that she would do everything she could to help, and she followed through on that promise.
Krystal went out of her way to contact the doctor when others would not. She advocated for me and ensured my medications were adjusted so I could finally rest. She was compassionate, attentive, and proactive in ways that made an enormous difference. She brought me warm blankets and ice packs before I even had to ask, anticipating my needs when I was too exhausted and overwhelmed to speak up. There were also repeated changes to my diet plan, which caused me to miss meals and go without food.
Krystal noticed this and made sure I was taken care of. She ensured I received food and did not allow me to be overlooked. That level of attentiveness meant more than I can express. She checked on me constantly, made sure my needs were met, answered every question I had, and always put my mind at ease. She was never far when I needed her, and her presence alone brought me comfort during one of the most frightening experiences of my life.
What makes her care even more extraordinary is that the following day, which was also her day off, Krystal took time out of her personal life to stop by and check on me. She even brought me a get-well gift, something I never expected and was completely overwhelmed by. That simple but deeply meaningful gesture showed just how selfless and genuine she truly is. Krystal did far more than perform her duties as a nurse. She advocated for me when I had no voice, believed me when I felt invisible, anticipated my needs without being asked, and treated me like a human being who truly mattered.
Because of her, I felt safe, cared for, and supported during an incredibly painful and vulnerable time. Krystal represents the very best of healthcare. Her compassion, dedication, and willingness to go above and beyond deserve to be recognized. I am profoundly grateful for her.
