She guided me through labour attentively and was so kind and friendly, it was like we had known each other for years and we’re friends - it’s everything I needed that day.
After multiple miscarriages, my second IVF pregnancy was successful but ended in a pre-term C-section delivery due to pre-eclampsia, and this third round of IVF pregnancy, having growth scans advising of a large baby, it is safe to say I was extremely anxious but still wanted to experience labour and a vaginal birth if possible. I came in on the Sunday for an induction and didn’t need one, I was able to have my waters broken instead. I stayed the night and early Monday I was taken down to labour ward and met Kristina.
I immediately felt at ease, something about her made me feel reassured I was in safe hands, and my baby was going to be well looked after. Having not experienced labour, I had no idea what to expect, yet Kristina communicated clearly at every step, she always ensured I was happy with any decisions, and 100% listened to everything I said and wanted. She guided me through labour attentively and was so kind and friendly, it was like we had known each other for years and we’re friends - it’s everything I needed that day. After a long day of labour, my baby became stuck, and the emergency button was pulled, but all thanks to Kristina closely monitoring my baby before it got to that stage, as she had already brought the doctor into the room, suspecting this was going to happen, she knew what my baby and I needed before it even happened! Her knowledge and understanding but also being reassuring and calm, I had no idea something wasn’t quite right, and I’m so pleased I didn’t, otherwise I would have panicked, and the adrenaline would have kicked in a lot sooner.
I am so thankful to Kristina, honestly. The end of my birth was traumatic, and I cannot even begin to imagine how she processes and deals with these situations. Thank you, Kristina. I will eternally be grateful for you being there that day. Kristina didn’t stop caring there either, as I had to stay in hospital for a few days, where she was also working and cared for me. I needed a blood transfusion, which is scary in itself, but again, she was there talking me through every step and helping me along the way. The morning Kristina opened the curtain to my bay on Maple Ward I immediately felt relieved she was there. Absolutely amazing from start to finish and I cannot believe how lucky I was to have her placed with me. Thank you so much!
Kristina from Kettering General was exceptional. Every midwife and support worker we saw was brilliant however, Kristina stood out. She consistently went above and beyond for my partner and every other patient I saw her dealing with during our week stay at KGH. She is truly top class, and we are very grateful to have had her during our time here.
