Kristie Keefe has been a nurse in the Cancer Center for almost ten years. She is frequently in charge of a very acute, fast-paced infusion room, simultaneously managing both patient and staffing challenges. She’s an expert at placing IVs, and patients often ask for her to be their nurse because of her extensive oncology knowledge and experience, and her caring and thorough practice. She develops personal connections with patients that help them feel calm and comfortable during what could be the most challenging aspect of their lives.

Kristie is often the first one into the office in the morning and one of the last ones to leave in the evening. She’s always the first person willing to assist with any patient issues and does everything she can to get patients scheduled when they need to be brought in for acute problems. She helps with coordination between offices to ensure patients get the treatment they need when they need it, which can be quite difficult at times, but she is often able to think outside the box and find a way to help her patients the best she can.

She is also a go-to for other nurses for everything from patient questions to scheduling concerns and is always willing to stop what she is doing and help others, personally or professionally. She has oriented many new nurses and takes on additional responsibility for day-to-day tasks. Kristie is truly an asset to the Cancer Center, and her knowledge and presence are invaluable to the team and to her patients.
