She immediately jumped into action and assembled a whole team of people to run every test and ensure she was okay so they could help alleviate the terrible reaction she was having.
My daughter was admitted to the children's hospital in Madison and stayed there for a week. Kristen L. was her nurse for 3 consecutive days while we were there. Immediately, at the beginning of her shift, the first day she was my daughter's nurse, she came in and stated that it was her goal to ensure all the different teams of doctors communicated and worked together effectively. They had all been coming into our room, and not all of them agreed on her plan of action and treatment. She created a group chat on the computer and had everyone discuss their ideas with one another to ensure they all agreed. It made a difference in her course of treatment, and the team decided to proceed with Plan B after discussing it together.
At one point during our stay, we discovered that we would have to stay there longer, which meant I needed to travel home to pick up additional belongings. I was nervous to leave because it was a 6-hour round trip to go home and get what we needed. Kristen reassured me that she would be right outside her door and let me know if anything happened or changed while I was gone. I felt much better after talking with Kristen and knowing she would be there while I was gone. My daughter also had a terrible reaction to a medicine she was receiving for nausea while admitted. Because Kristen had been with us for three days straight, she knew that her response and behavior over that day were not normal for her and seemed strange. She immediately jumped into action and assembled a whole team of people to run every test and ensure she was okay so they could help alleviate the terrible reaction she was having. She even discussed how she had a similar reaction to medicine while pregnant with her child, which creating the same effect my daughter was having.
It was reassuring to know that my daughter would be okay and that there was something they could do to help her. Kristen advocated for my daughter the whole time she was our nurse, and I couldn't be more thankful and grateful that we were able to have her care for her. She is an exceptional nurse who consistently goes above and beyond for her patients to ensure they receive the best care possible. I cannot thank her enough for stepping in and helping us while we were there, and even when I couldn't be there, while I was traveling home. I couldn't have asked for a better person to step in and take on that mom role while I was away. Thank you so much, Kristen!
