Kristen Grocki, RN
I was about to nominate this nurse for her compassion, but her patient decided to write a nomination:
"I would like to bring to your attention one of the most professional and kind nurses in your employment. Ms. Kristen Grocki was not only thorough in her explanation of treatment but approaches her patients with empathy and compassion.
One example where Kristen thought outside the box is after I had suffered a head injury producing sufficient blood to cake my hair; knowing that I was to be moved to Masconomet Rehabilitation Center, she understood that I wasn't happy moving there with my dried, bloodied hair. Kristen arranged me lying at an angle on my bed, with plastic bowls on the chair. Kristen deserves this award."
I completely concur with everything this patient feels. I do remember this event, and I remember thinking, "What a sweetheart; I need to write this down and nominate her for a DAISY," because this is one of the many things I've witnessed with Kristen: caring acts that take up a lot of time, nursing-wise, yet she makes them seem so effortless and makes them a natural part of her assignment regardless of the tedious time it may take. She can care for me or any of my loved ones any day because her care speaks volumes to the soul. She's an excellent addition to our J3 team and Beverly Hospital family.
