I am a clinical instructor with Mercy College and have come in contact with Krissie (Kristen) and her unit multiple times in my 2 years as a Mercy College employee. Every time I bring my students on her floor, Krissie is happy and excited to see them. Her love for her staff and the patients is evident not only through speaking with her but through my interactions with her staff. I’ve been in nursing for 14 years, and it is hard to find staff members who truly love and respect their nurse leader as much as everyone respects Krissie. I constantly recommend my nursing students apply to Krissie’s unit as I know they will start their career off with a positive leader and a unit full of great staff who work together. Krissie has managed to create a culture of trust and respect on her unit, and it is evident by how her staff speak about her and the unit. Krissie has always been supportive of our nursing students and has gone above and beyond to make them feel welcome, ensuring her staff also make the students feel welcome. My students are always so happy after their clinical on her floor because they are treated with respect by her staff, but also have the opportunity to learn and do a lot. Krissie is the epitome of a great leader, and the staff and patients are lucky to have her.
