I was admitted to AdventHealth hospital Winter Garden Florida through the emergency room intake. I was fully expecting to be ignored and passed off as an elderly person who wouldn't know any better, that was uninformed and expendable. Kirsten was the first contact when I reached the room I was supposed to be in for the time of my care, and she made me feel very comfortable. She had enormous empathy and understanding of my situation and my problems. She made me feel very comfortable which is very hard for me at the age of 67 years old. Kirsten did not treat me like I was expendable, she treated me like a real person. She treated me with total understanding. And like clockwork every hour she made sure she spoke to me and made sure I understood everything that was going on. Kirsten wanted to make sure I understood exactly what was going on with my health. She explained every bit of it in detail and the steps that would be taken to try to comfort me and maintain my health and make my health better. I have never had a better nurse, and I have been hospitalized more than 20 times in the past 5 years. I think Kirsten deserves this award for her compassion and her empathy.
