I first met Kira down in the ER when I came in for a really bad asthma exacerbation. She immediately made me feel comfortable and at ease with her sense of humor. While she often joked with me and made me laugh, she was nothing short of professional and caring. I ended up being admitted to the hospital. When dinner came, I got one whiff and knew it was not for me. Kira quickly took it out of my room. She came back and casually asked me what kind of food I liked and if I wanted her to order something else for her. I told her no, that my family was bringing me Chick-fil-A. She left that evening with a smile and told me to take care. It turns out Kira had specially ordered every meal for me for the next day! She had gathered my likes through conversation! The person who brought my lunch tray was the same one who had brought breakfast and, while delivering it, even told me, "Man, you must have an angel watching out for you down there!" As if taking the time to order my three meals for the next day were not enough, that evening, there was a knock on my door, and in walked Kira! She came by after her shift to check on me and make sure I liked the food that was sent. She then took the time to order the next day's food again! Kira is an amazing example of a caring nurse! She really took the time to make me feel seen and cared for. I cannot think of a better person to receive a DAISY Award!
