From the very first moment, she was gentle and kind. I never questioned whether or not I was in good hands.
In August 2023, I was 36 weeks pregnant and found out my daughter no longer had a heartbeat. When I arrived at Labor and Delivery, Kinsey was assigned as my nurse. From the very first moment, she was gentle and kind. I never questioned whether or not I was in good hands.
Many things will always stand out to me about her, but I will never forget the time and effort she took to take beautiful photos of our daughter. She also went above and beyond to create a memory box that we will cherish forever.
Throughout the early days of grief, Kinsey consistently checked on us. Fast forward to November 2024, and I was facing a similar nightmare. At my 35-week appointment, my second daughter did not have a heartbeat. Kinsey was ready for me when I arrived at the Labor and Delivery unit. She greeted us with tears and hugs. We kept in touch throughout our journey and were all certain that this would not be the way we met again. She sat down with me and had a long conversation about what I thought went well and did not go well when I had my first daughter. She ensured that I felt safe and comfortable before even beginning any medication. That's a direct reflection of Kinsey’s character-she cares for her patients on a human level.
I know I can be myself around Kinsey and that she will make what I need a reality. Kinsey was not scheduled the day my second daughter was born, but she returned to the hospital with flowers and treats and took time out of her day off to take beautiful photos of our daughter that we will cherish for a lifetime. No parent should endure what my husband and I have once, let alone twice, and Kinsey has made it much more tolerable through her genuine kindness and compassion. Grief and trauma are extremely hard to sit with, and Kinsey does it with ease. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award.
