Kim always makes her staff feel so loved and supported in this way because she will literally drop what she is doing and jump into any role to help.
Kim is one of the rarest nursing supervisors, nurses, and overall human beings you will find, and I believe she embodies what the DAISY Award is about.

Kim never hesitates to answer any call bells, assist patients to the bathroom, and one time, on her way walking into the unit for the morning, she saw me starting a complete bed change on an incontinent patient. She dropped her bags of chips and purse on the side of the hallway, came into the room, and helped me do the entire bed change with the patient.

Kim always makes her staff feel so loved and supported in this way because she will literally drop what she is doing and jump into any role to help. She has personally helped me complete cares on very combative patients twice, where we were able to change the patient without being slapped or kicked.

She always keeps her office open and snacks filled to make the staff feel welcomed to come speak with her, and we always do. Not only does Kim support her staff on the unit, but she also shows that she genuinely cares about us as people.

There was a point last year when I was going through personal and family hardship, causing a sudden leave of absence. During this time, Kim went above and beyond to check in on me throughout my leave and check on my mental health. She even went as far as to help my family and sisters arrange and coordinate the leave on my behalf when I was in no condition to do it for myself. Throughout this time, she made me feel welcome and supported as a human being. I will never forget that, or the time she hugged me with tears in her eyes after one of my annual evaluations.

Kim is an amazing leader, and it shows in the dedication of the staff to her. She motivates and challenges us, whether it is hitting our goals on the steps programs with ice cream parties or increasing RN certifications by taking us out to dinner.

I am forever grateful for a supervisor who truly has our backs, one who goes to bat and defends her nursing team, for example, one time intercepting a phone call as an RN was getting a nasty phone call from a doctor, and always takes the time to crack a joke and make us smile.

We love her and are extremely lucky to have her as a supervisor and to know her.

Thank you for all that you do!
