I would like to nominate Kimmy Baum of the Rehab Unit. While my dad was a patient in her unit a few years ago, he always said she went above and beyond her job as a nurse. She was very caring and treated my dad like her own dad. While visiting my dad last month on the second floor of building D, I ran into Kimmy. I told her my dad had been in and out of the Southwest Hospital on numerous occasions due to all his medical problems. She asked what room he was in and said she would like to visit him after her shift. I told her he was on the second floor of the D building again.

The following morning, after her shift, she went to see my dad. Because my dad was so weak and unable to feed himself, Kimmy fed him his breakfast and visited him for over an hour to make sure he was comfortable. That was so caring of her. Kimmy didn't have to do that, but she is a wonderful person. She even called me and left me a message letting me know how my dad was doing. My dad always told me that the nurse in the rehab unit, Kimmy, was a very caring person with a big heart.

Unfortunately, my dad passed away in the Intensive Care Unit on June 20th. Kimmy came to my dad's wake to pay her respects and to comfort my family. I want to nominate her for the DAISY Award because she is a hard-working, caring nurse at Southwest Hospital. I will always remember my dad telling me the great nurse from the Rehab unit came to visit him and fed him his breakfast. I can't thank Kimmy enough for being a great nurse who went above and beyond for my dad.

Thank you, Kimberly, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
