She has been a light in one of the hardest times of our lives, bringing comfort and warmth when it was needed most.
My daughter was admitted to the hospital due to complications from COVID. She was placed in isolation and faced one challenge after another. During her first week, we were blessed to have Kiera as her nurse. From the very first night, her kindness, patience, and compassion shone through in every small thing she did.
Because of her illness, my daughter missed homecoming, as well as several other school trips and events she had been so excited about. It broke my heart to see her struggle not only with being sick, but also with the loneliness of isolation. She could not see anyone besides her parents and the hospital staff, and the days felt endlessly long. That first night, Kiera spent so much time sitting and talking with her. She made her laugh and reminded her that she was more than just a patient in a hospital room. The next night, we found out that she would be her nurse again, which happened to be her homecoming night. My daughter's entire mood changed. She was smiling and happy again, and for the first time in a while, she felt like herself.
After being taken off isolation, my daughter continued to stay hospitalized for what has now been more than two months. Through every phase of her stay, Kiera has continued to make a difference every single time she has cared for her. My daughter always looks forward to the nights when Kiera is working and hopes each evening that she will be her nurse again. Even on nights when she is not, just catching a glimpse of her bright smile and little conversation in the hallway lifted my daughter’s spirits.
We are so deeply grateful for every moment Kiera has taken to talk with her, to listen, and to make her feel seen and valued. She has been a light in one of the hardest times of our lives, bringing comfort and warmth when it was needed most. Her compassion, positivity, and genuine heart have left a lasting impact on both of us. She is everything a nurse should be: caring, thoughtful, and truly dedicated to her patients. We will always remember the difference she made and the kindness she shared when we needed it the most.
