It is with great pleasure and admiration that I nominate Kevin Smith, Patient Flow Coordinator in the Emergency Department, for the DAISY Award. Kevin is the embodiment of selfless dedication, teamwork, and unwavering commitment to both his colleagues and the patients we serve.
Throughout his career in public service, Kevin has shown a passion for supporting those around him, not only through his professional responsibilities but also through the creation of the Unit-Based Marketplace. This initiative has had a profound impact on our department, providing the team with the snacks and drinks they need to stay fueled during busy shifts. The success of the marketplace goes beyond just the items it provides; the funds raised help support a variety of initiatives, from purchasing needed equipment for the department to adopting families during the holidays and assisting co-workers in times of personal need. Kevin's dedication to fostering a culture of support and camaraderie within the ED is unparalleled.
Kevin’s background as a former EMS worker has also made him a key figure in our collaboration with our EMS partners. His experience allows him to bridge the gap between the hospital and emergency services, creating a seamless flow of communication and cooperation that is critical for patient care. His leadership, understanding, and empathy in these interactions help ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients, while also strengthening our vital partnerships.
