During our pediatric rotation, I was with Kenny, and throughout every clinical, there were so many patients that Kenny had an impact on. One patient in particular had been struggling to connect with any of the nurses. The patient was not only struggling physically but was having a difficult time mentally. Kenny was more than willing to try to connect with this patient and went right into the patient's room. Within 5 mins, Kenny and the patient were playing video games, and you could hear them laughing from the nurses' station. Kenny spent as much time as possible with this patient, and you could tell the patient's family truly appreciated it. In general, Kenny always wants the best for patients and those around them. Kenny has an uplifting spirit and is always encouraging classmates and wanting to help in any way possible. Kenny embodies what the DAISY Award is about, and while he is very humble, he deserves recognition for his upstanding actions and mindset.
