Within one year of filling the lead nurse position for the Indian River School District, Kenna has been able to advocate for the needs of all of the school nurses in the various schools throughout the district. Using a clinical eye and recognizing the hard work and acuity levels that correspond to the needs of the staff nurses within the district, Kenna has bridged communication and support with district leadership, impacting the ability of the nurses employed by the district to provide safe and efficient care for the more than 10,000 students attending Indian River schools. Using data and personal nursing accounts, Kenna has exemplified the components of a situational and transformational leader, showing compassion and readiness to assist in creating productive nursing environments and partnering with staff nurses to promote better situations within public health, student services, and clinical practice. Additionally, Kenna has been elected to leadership in the Delaware School Nurse Association which allows her to have an even greater impact on the policies and procedures which govern and protect school nurses throughout the state. Kenna leads with knowledge, understanding, and professionalism, which makes her a respected member of the IRSD team and a partner to all of the nurses who work in school nursing throughout the state.

Thank you, Kenna, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
