My 93-year-old mother was admitted to the ICU after having emergency bowel obstruction surgery at 1:00 a.m. Once she was strong enough to be transferred, she was taken to the 5th floor and cared for by many great nurses. The one that I dealt with the most was Kelsey Robinson. Obviously, because of the circumstances surrounding this, my mother was very weak and needed special care. Kelsey treated her like a human being, not as some 93-year-old who was just being written off because of her age. She was patient and calming to my mom and listened to her.

Unfortunately, circumstances took a turn for the worse, and we realized my mother would not be leaving the hospital. Kelsey was so sweet and attentive to my mother and to me and my family. She walked us through the stages we would experience at the end of my mother’s life. She answered all our questions and let us know we were not a pain to her but more of a grieving family, preparing to lose their mother. She was there until the end with all of us and gave us her sympathy and hugs as we left the 5th floor in tears. My family and I will never forget her kindness and the excellent care she gave to our mother.
