Kelly was my nurse from the moment I checked in with active labor all the way through delivery and recovery. With this being my 3rd delivery, I know there are many types of nurses in L&D. Kelly had the calm of an experienced nurse as well as the energy and attitude that's absolutely essential to help laboring mamas. Sometimes nurses can come off as playing a role, reading policy and procedure scripts written for a cheerleader. Kelly quickly understood my birth plan and helped me stick to it while still offering alternatives as we went. She advocated for me as other staff/providers came and went. She accommodated my requests every time she could while also using her wisdom and experience to lead me to better outcomes than I had projected for myself. Kelly understood I wanted a quiet, natural birth (while I was anything but quiet). She made me feel like I was in control of the day and each and every contraction. When it came time to push, she realized I needed direction and took charge as I lost myself in fear. Kelly was exactly what I needed to create the best scenario possible for delivering my third daughter. While I had no negative issues with any of the other nurses, Kelly was the one I would choose to be at my side if I did it again.
