Her willingness to learn, along with her strength, support, and kindness, embodies the traits of an exceptional nurse leader.
Since joining our unit, she has thoughtfully and confidently made a large and positive impact. The impact she has made extends to all nurses, support staff, and units beyond ours. In the short time she has been a leader with us, this is quite an accomplishment. She consistently demonstrates strong leadership qualities crucial to leading our large and dynamic unit. She has taken the initiative to get to know each of us. She also takes the time to understand our strengths and even our challenges. More importantly, she has backed us up in situations where it would have been easier to step back and not get involved. Her support has been noticed and so appreciated by us. Her willingness to stand up for what is right, even if it meant challenging tough physicians and established practices, has instilled confidence in us and shown her commitment to patient care and our well-being.

Ultimately, she gives us the time and care we need to know she is dedicated to us. She will take the time to review policies with us, listen actively, and look at all sides of each situation before reacting. She follows up with us and makes an effort to ensure we have the answers and support we need. She is committed to us giving good care. Equipment issues are addressed in a timely fashion to the best of her ability so we can perform at our best. Following particularly difficult days, she will take the time to check in with us, offering support and words of encouragement. She is not afraid to roll up her sleeves and jump into care when she is so needed. Even just one task completed makes the difference to a nurse in need. This willingness to help us on the floor directly helps her understand our issues in direct care.

A leader who understands the first line of care leads best. She genuinely knows our conflicts, needs, challenges, and triumphs because she is with us. She is seen. She is there. She is with us. Her support is unwavering and means everything to us. This establishes and continues an enduring trust. We know she is on our side and truly wants to make a difference. This genuine care for our nurses and support staff creates a positive, supportive work environment and improves morale. This is especially important during these challenging times in health care. Her willingness to learn, along with her strength, support, and kindness, embodies the traits of an exceptional nurse leader. We want her to know that she deserves this award and, most of all, that she is appreciated.
