When the patient's grandchildren travelled from Tennessee to visit, Kelly welcomed them warmly, going out of her way to ensure they felt comfortable and included, all while continuing to deliver excellent nursing care without missing a beat.

Kelly's kindness is genuine and abundant – not just toward the patient, but to their families as well. Her encouragement and thoughtful presence remind everyone around her just how much she cares. She continues to go above and beyond her regular duties. Now working weekends, Kelly often takes the initiative to email leadership about important patient follow-ups or discharge concerns. She does this on her own time, simply because she wants to ensure no patient falls through the cracks.

Even after her own shift ended, Kelly chose to stay and sit with a frightened patient and their anxious family, offering comfort and reassurance during a deeply vulnerable moment. Her presence brought a sense of calm and humanity that went far beyond clinical care. By simply listening, holding a hand, and answering questions with patience and empathy, she reminded everyone in the room that they were not alone. In addition to being a strong clinical nurse, Kelly frequently serves as the charge nurse on weekends and mentors new nurses as a preceptor. Her leadership, compassion, and dedication make her not just a team favorite but also one of the most respected nurses we've ever had. Kelly also goes out of her way to lift up her team. She thoughtfully created a hot chocolate and coffee bar for staff, turning even the busiest shifts into moments of comfort and camaraderie.

During the holidays, she helps organize gifts for Angel Tree kids and assembles Christmas baskets for patients in need – ensuring everyone feels remembered and cared for during the season. These generous gestures are just another reflection of her heart and the joy she brings to those around her. Kelly is the embodiment of what the DAISY Award represents – compassion, dedication, and the kind of quiet heroism that changes lives every day.
