I will always be grateful that Kelly was there when I brought my baby into this world. She truly is unmatched in her calling, and I was blessed beyond words to have her as my nurse.
From the moment Kelly stepped onto her shift, she wasn't just doing a job-she was answering a calling.
Kelly went above and beyond not only for me, but also for my baby and my fiancé. What was shaping up to be a complicated and overwhelming birth experience was transformed the moment she walked into the room. Her presence brought calm, confidence, and compassion. She instantly made both my fiancé and me feel seen, heard, and safe. That alone was extraordinary; she did so much more.
Kelly advocated for me and my baby in ways that I didn't even realize I needed. She took the time to ensure my fiancé was informed and involved throughout the entire process, something we hadn't experienced before, and something that meant the world to both of us. She didn't just support me physically through the pain and vulnerability of labor; she lifted me emotionally, cared for me intimately with dignity and kindness, and treated me like I was the only patient in the hospital. I never once felt like a number or a task. Kelly made me feel human and whole.
During moments that could have been frightening or isolating, Kelly made sure I was never alone. She explained every step, comforted me through discomfort, and treated even the most personal and vulnerable aspects of labor and postpartum care with warmth and grace. She gently included my fiancé, guiding him in ways to help and support me, making him feel not just like a visitor, but an essential part of the process. In a world where fathers can sometimes feel overlooked in childbirth, Kelly empowered him and, in doing so, strengthened our bond as we welcomed our child together.
When it was finally time to deliver, I wanted Kelly at my side on one side of me, and my fiancé on the other. That says everything. I trusted her more than anyone else in the room. I looked to her even before I looked to the doctors or midwives, because I knew she saw me, not just a patient, but a person.
I don't have my mother in my life, but with Kelly by my side, I felt like I had the steady, loving presence of someone who cared for me as deeply as family would. She gave me the gift of feeling protected, respected, and deeply cared for. That is something I will never forget.
Kelly followed me through the entire process, never once letting her energy or empathy fade. She showed up for me in every way a nurse could, and in many ways that went far beyond what anyone could expect. The care she gave made an indelible mark on one of the most important days of my life.
I will always be grateful that Kelly was there when I brought my baby into this world. She truly is unmatched in her calling, and I was blessed beyond words to have her as my nurse.
Note: This is Kelly's 2nd DAISY Award!
