I am nominating Kellie, a nurse in the ER, for the DAISY Award because of the extraordinary compassion and care she showed while caring for my grandfather. During one of the most difficult days for our family, she went above and beyond—not only in her medical duties, but in the genuine kindness and humanity she showed.

My grandfather was in significant discomfort, and our entire family was overwhelmed with emotion. Kellie didn’t just provide excellent medical care—she connected with him on a personal level. She sat beside him, held his hand, spoke to him softly and respectfully, and treated him with such dignity and warmth that it brought a sense of peace in a heartbreaking moment. It was clear she truly cared—not just for his well-being, but for his comfort and humanity.

What meant the most was how Kellie cared for our whole family. She patiently answered our questions, reassured us during our worry and grief, and made sure we felt supported every step of the way. Her calm and compassionate presence made an incredibly difficult experience a little more bearable.

Thanks to Kellie, my grandfather was treated with the dignity and compassion he deserved in his final moments. Our family is forever grateful for the care she provided, and we believe she embodies everything the DAISY Award stands for.
