He was the model of empathy and care on the worst day of my life.
The ambulance was supposed to take my husband to the VA hospital, but it diverted us to Providence instead. As it turned out, Keith was the angel we didn't know we needed. As my husband's bloodwork came back that he was not going to make it, he was by our side offering kindness and respect where others wouldn't. Even as my husband gasped for air (literally) and screamed in pain, he was calm and soothing, which helped my husband in a desperate situation. My husband passed away yesterday - I lost the most wonderful man ever, but Keith didn't push, or pull away. He was the model of empathy and care on the worst day of my life. He handled my husband with gentle strength, helping him move with as much grace and comfort as possible. Even after he passed, he cared for him with respect and dignity that was not always shown to him during other medical experiences. His compassion was also extended to me and our family members who were too far away to say their last goodbyes. I truly am grateful to the man my husband called 'Doctor Keith', who made our horrible day less so. Please pass on my gratitude to Keith and let his superiors know. He is what we need more of in a world that is not always kind.
