October 2025 Honoree
Kaylee Guthmiller, RN, ADN
Kaylee had a patient on 3 East who said her son would like her to be baptized, and he would like to be baptized as well. On Saturday, Kaylee texted me telling me about this patient and her son. That day, this patient wasn't her patient, but she wanted to help. She said when she had a free moment, she would go talk to the patient. She did; I told her I could get someone to do it when she wanted, and if we needed to do that day, we would. We decided on Monday, as her son is a firefighter and was off. They were both baptized on Monday. It was a huge success because Kaylee connected with her patient, listened, and knew how important this was to her and her son.
Also, I have a personal story: I didn't know Kaylee until February 2025. Kaylee had worked on LTACH and had just started on 3 East. To work on 3 East, the nurse must shadow a stent and an open-heart surgery and care for an open-heart patient who has just come from the ICU. This is the day our paths crossed for the first of many times, and hopefully many more times to come. My dad was scheduled to go to the CATH Lab to see if he had blockages and if they could stent them. He went in, and he came right back out 30 minutes later. Kaylee was one of the nurses who was with him. That is when they told us he could not be stented and would need a quadruple bypass. I remember her face in that moment and her compassion.
Fast forward to the day of the quadruple bypass. It just happened to be the bypass that Kaylee was selected to shadow. I knew he had a great team, but it also made me happy she'd be with him through this. Fast forward a day, he was moved from ICU to 3 East, and Kaylee happened to be working that day and needed to care for an open-heart patient. They say things come in threes, and this was a sign. Kaylee was my dad's first nurse on 3 East. She was kind, compassionate, energetic, and very helpful. She connected immediately with my mom and dad, and I am so thankful.
I have worked for Mosaic for ten years, and this was the first time I got to fully experience that family side. I am so glad Kaylee was there for all of us. She still asks about them and how they are doing. Now, fast forward to today, I get to work with Kaylee daily when we're here on the same days. Kaylee is such a compassionate, connected nurse who puts her patients, their families, and friends first. This happened this week, and it reminded me of my first encounter with Kaylee and how lucky Mosaic is to have her.

Thank you, Kaylee, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
