I would like to nominate Kayla Jenkins for the DAISY Award in recognition of her unwavering dedication, compassion, and exemplary leadership as our unit charge nurse. While much of her work may go unseen by patients or even some staff, those of us who work closely with her know how deeply she invests in making sure our unit runs smoothly. Kayla is the backbone of our team, always ensuring that patient care is a top priority while supporting her colleagues with fairness, patience, and a positive attitude. She steps in wherever she is needed, whether it's helping a new nurse learn the ropes, managing complex staffing needs, or addressing concerns with grace and professionalism. She leads by example, never asking anyone to do something she wouldn't do herself. Even in the most challenging moments, she remains calm, kind, and supportive. What makes Kayla truly stand out is the way she sees and values every team member. She listens, advocates, and makes decisions that are thoughtful and fair. Her behind-the-scenes work may not always get the spotlight, but it has an immeasurable impact on patient care and staff morale. Her humility, hard work, and genuine care make her the heart of our unit. We are incredibly fortunate to work alongside someone so committed to excellence, and I can think of no one more deserving of the DAISY Award than Kayla Jenkins.
