Because she leads with respect, she has cultivated a culture of mutual accountability, psychological safety, and trust.

One of her most defining leadership qualities is our core value of respect. For her, respect is foundational. Every voice on her unit matters.

Whether she is speaking with a new grad or an experienced nurse, she listens fully and creates a space for all colleagues to be heard. She knows the importance of shared governance and has stepped up to lead the SMG PNPC, as well as participating in the system shared governance council.

She consistently demonstrates respect through transparency. When decisions must be made that impact workflow or practice, she explains the rationale clearly and honestly. Even when the message is difficult, she delivers it with integrity and clarity, reinforcing trust.

Over the years, she has displayed a deep focus and respect for work-life balance and staff well-being. She recognizes that nurses are not just professionals but individuals with families, responsibilities, and lives outside the hospital. She works diligently to create equitable schedules, accommodate reasonable requests, and prevent burnout whenever possible.

She's been instrumentally involved in forming a Zen room at SMG for nursing colleagues. She stepped up to help plan the 1st Annual Nurse Leader Wellspring Event for WI leaders.

Because she leads with respect, she has cultivated a culture of mutual accountability, psychological safety, and trust. It is seen in how she greets her staff by name, how she follows up after difficult shifts, how she recognizes colleague contributions, and how she protects her team when advocacy is needed.
