I am a combat Veteran with PTSD and anxiety. I admitted myself because I was having a really hard time. I just got divorced recently and in a custody battle. The last deployment in 2019 was really hard on me, and the things that I witnessed and the things I had to do impacted my life in a way that had me looking to end my life. Kayla had an amazing energy and a good heart – she made a huge impact on my life. At first, I didn’t want to leave my room; I was trying to isolate myself. She helped me come out of my shell and socialize, making me feel welcome and at home. She made me laugh and helped me reconnect with my goofy side. She encouraged me to stay strong and made me feel like I could live life again. She showed me that growth begins with release and helped me focus on the important things in life. She is a great and kind person. She deserves this award.
