I know my son was just one of the hundreds of patients she’s had, but she has made an impact on my outlook on nurses forever!
We found ourselves at Nash Women’s Center NICU after I unexpectedly gave birth to my son at 34 weeks and 5 days. Nurse Kayla attended the delivery and reassured me that my baby was looking great for his age, and she would take great care of him in the upstairs NICU unit. Once he was taken to the NICU, she remained his nurse and would constantly give meaningful updates every day when we, his father, and I would visit.

She was so warm and thoughtful to us. She made the best out of the situation we were placed in; I was always glad to walk in when she was on, knowing that my son was given more than just clinical attention. Unfortunately, Mother’s Day came around, and my son was still in the NICU. I came to visit, and she had made me Mother’s Day gifts with my son’s footprints. It made me tear up.

She did such a good job of keeping a positive outlook on a job that I know can be so difficult and draining. We would talk while my son was sleeping, and she would reassure me that he was doing amazingly well and that if he kept it up, we would have him home in no time. She’s really the best. I teared up the whole time writing this. I know my son was just one of the hundreds of patients she’s had, but she has made an impact on my outlook on nurses forever!

My family and I were lucky to have had her as our son’s nurse!
