While on the Woman and Children's (WAC) my wife, G, labored for over 36 hours. Kayla was our first day shift nurse and greatly assisted through a difficult and protracted period of contractions. Kayla is an EXPERT care provider, and her vast professional knowledge surrounding labor position was the key to my wife's pain management. Most importantly was Kayla's kindness and empathy towards G regarding the decision to get an epidural after more than 6 hours of painful contractions. G was beginning to suffer greatly from the prolonged pain but was torn on the decision to begin an epidural. Kayla kneeled at the edge of the tub while talking her through her pain management options and answering all her questions while offering kindness and support. She helped G feel supported in her decision and helped hold her through the actual epidural process. We had 24 hours of labor to go still, and would not have been nearly as prepared to face it if it weren't for the strong head start Kayla gave us.
