Kayla has a profound positive impact on our patients' lives.
Kayla exemplifies both exceptional clinical skill and deep compassion. Her instincts and empathy consistently stand out in critical moments.
She played a key role in stabilizing a critically injured teenage trauma patient for transfer. Afterward, she noticed a daisy left behind on the ED cart and felt compelled to keep it. After the patient sadly passed away, she preserved the daisy in resin to give to the family, recognizing its symbolism of hope and new beginnings.
After a long shift, Kayla noticed an unresponsive individual in the parking lot. Without hesitation, she initiated CPR and called for help. The individual was stabilized, transferred, and discharged home two days later.
Another instance occurred while Kayla was triaging a patient; she quickly identified a change in the patient’s cardiac rhythm and level of consciousness. She initiated CPR and defibrillated the patient twice. This happened a second time, a few minutes later. Each time ROSC was attained. The patient was transferred, received an ICD, and was discharged home a week later.
Kayla has a profound positive impact on our patients' lives. Her ability to combine clinical excellence with genuine empathy exemplifies the highest standard of patient care.
