When I was a new Grad, being able to work with Katrina was honestly a dream come true. I was so worried about saying that “nurses eat their young” but I have never felt that with her. She always answers my questions no matter how big or small. She’ll also lend an ear whenever I feel sad/insecure/upset. She’ll also aid me whenever I’m unsure of what to do.

My most memorable memory of Katrina is probably one she doesn’t even remember. As I was learning to take care of patients and how to become accustomed to St. Joseph’s, I saw Katrina rounding on patients in the unit. I noticed her genuinely asking family if they needed anything and if they ate while she was simultaneously grabbing that family member a chair. She then also grabbed a turkey sandwich from the fridge and gave it to the family as they stated they had not eaten yet. This action touched my heart as it made me realize that we don’t only treat the patient, but also the family members as they are going through a difficult time too.

Katrina is genuinely a great leader and perfectly displays humankindess effortlessly. St. Joseph’s is lucky to have her. Because of her actions, I always aspire to be like her and aid both the patients and their loved ones.
