She skillfully managed her other patients while also coordinating an echocardiogram post-procedure, all while remaining consistently positive and making my husband and me feel as though we were receiving the very best level of care.
Coming into the Cath Lab as a patient for my first heart procedure, any procedure, for that matter, my anxiety and fears were at an overwhelming level. I am so grateful for Katie’s care, which helped put me at ease.
From the start of my procedure, Katie made my husband and me feel at home and showed us that she was the leader of our care team. She did an amazing job narrating the care I was receiving, and we truly appreciated her positive attitude, which helped keep me calm.
Her post-procedure care was simply amazing. In addition to executing the standard care flawlessly, she was flexible and attentive to my needs as a patient. My recovery time was taking longer than expected due to my inability to ambulate as soon as I had hoped. Katie supported me throughout and reminded me not to be a “tough guy,” reassuring me that I had the time I needed to stabilize.
She skillfully managed her other patients while also coordinating an echocardiogram post-procedure, all while remaining consistently positive and making my husband and me feel as though we were receiving the very best level of care. When we were eventually ready for discharge, Katie provided personalized instructions and even had my husband pull up the car while she wheeled me out of the unit.
While I have always been proud to work for Intermountain, I am even more proud now after personally experiencing this level of extraordinary care. Thank you so much, Katie!

Katie’s actions had a profound impact by reducing fear, building trust, and ensuring both emotional and clinical needs were met during a highly stressful medical experience. From the beginning, she eased anxiety by clearly explaining each step of the procedure and maintaining a calm, positive presence, which helped both the patient and their spouse feel safe and confident in the care being provided. Her leadership and communication made the care team feel coordinated and reassuring rather than overwhelming.
Post-procedure, her impact continued through patience and adaptability. When recovery took longer than expected, Katie offered reassurance, encouraged appropriate pacing, and prioritized patient stability over rushing discharge. She balanced these individualized needs while still effectively managing other patients and coordinating an echocardiogram, demonstrating strong clinical skill and situational awareness.
Finally, her personalized discharge support, providing clear instructions and physically assisting the patient to the car, left a lasting impression of dignity, compassion, and exceptional service. These actions not only supported a successful recovery but also deepened the patient’s pride and trust in Intermountain’s commitment to extraordinary care.
