It is with great pleasure that I take the time to honor and appreciate Katherine B. (Katie) for the way she took the time to give me exceptional care in my time of need. The ER was extremely busy, as I had been there for seven hours. The medical staff were all busy and running around, dealing with high-stress conditions. I had a wound on my abdomen, something I was extremely self-conscious about and in a lot of pain from.

Katie, my nurse, greeted me with a warm smile, compassion, and empathy. I felt seen, heard, and truly cared for in my time in the ER. Nurse Katie exemplifies the very essence of exceptional nursing care. I let her know I was a very hard stick; she took the time and found a vein by looking and feeling. She did not rush the process, just sticking several times as I have had in the past. I felt comforted in her presence and care I received she took the time to explain the process of my treatment, testing and plan of care.

In a busy, high-stress environment, every time she came into my room, she maintained a calm demeanor amidst the chaos of the ER. I received the best care with Katie, and I hope she knows what a light she is in the nursing field and what a difference she makes with her nursing excellence. I will carry her care with me. Nursing is a work of the heart, and Katie, you exemplify the core values of a nurse, providing ethical and professional patient care with utmost dignity and respect.
