Since joining our team, Katie has exemplified what it means to not only be an exceptional nurse but also an awe-inspiring human being. Her proactive approach to healthcare and positive outlook on life demonstrate a shining example of what it means to not only put patients first, but all people in general, despite any circumstance.

Often observed by her colleagues, Katie is an ambassador of education. Being a diabetic herself, Katie has been able to draw from her own experiences to empower her patients in managing their conditions. Katie’s ability to empathize with patients fosters a trusting environment in which they feel comfortable discussing their own challenges.

In addition to these already honorable attributes, going above and beyond is not difficult for Katie. She has often volunteered to take on additional tasks to assist her managers with balancing their workloads. One of many examples is attaining her Michigan nursing license simply to be able to assist a sister clinic, over an hour away from her home.

Always willing to be of service, Katie will not only work as a nurse, but as a PCT, anemia manager, scheduling wizard, or fun-loving personal therapist when others are feeling stressed. Contributing countless hours, Katie’s infectious positivity makes it impossible for any patient or coworker to feel sad or unheard. She is always there with a smile, kind words, and joyful energy that symbolize the very epitome of the DAISY Award.
