I’m writing to recognize a very special RN. Kate was my nephew’s first point of contact. He had a pacemaker scheduled for a 0930 check in and 1100 Surgery. Kate entered the room with a big smile, introduced herself and got him for pre-op prep. A series of other staff nurses and Drs for the procedure were professional and showing care but Kate also came in.

The surgery time was delayed several times because a patient before my nephew had complications. After the 3rd delay, she could see he was frustrated, and she was able to calm him. My nephew had been in the bed 0930 to noon and he was agitated. She could see that, and I left the room to go eat. When I got back at 1245, I learned that to help him relax she took him outside. She also earlier brought him a chair and turned the TV on.

Kate has empathy and a positive attitude. I have since learned that she will retire 6/23/25. She definitely deserves this award!
