Katie exhibits leadership on her research team, as a course lead, and as a scholar.
Dr. Katie Malin exhibits exemplary performance in her role in the College of Nursing at Marquette. She has secured a prestigious NIH-funded faculty development award to support her program of neonatal research. Her work is stakeholder-informed and highly collaborative. Her work examines the impact of the social determinants of health in mothers as it relates to toxic stress in the NICU with the goal of broadening the understanding of epigenetic alterations of preterm infants and their mothers. Katie also leads a research team investigating nursing faculty compensation. Their team advocates for policy change at the state and federal levels.
As an instructor, Katie thoughtfully and successfully revised the Evidence-Based Practice and Nursing Research course, which will help shape future nurse-leaders in developing scientific evidence applied to nursing practice. Katie exhibits leadership on her research team, as a course lead, and as a scholar. Her burgeoning work has great potential for future funding, collaborations, and high impact overall. I am delighted to nominate Dr. Katie Malin for a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse Educators.
