I arrived today for an endoscopy and my first colonoscopy in combination after being sick for six weeks, down 35 pounds, cold, and nervous. Kathleen came in, introduced herself, gave me two warm blankets, which were instantly soothing, and began describing the procedures in a lighthearted and reassuring tone. I could immediately tell she cared about her patients, and I was receiving superior service. Kathleen had many tasks to do, all of which were exact and on point, while keeping up a conversation with me. When answering my questions, she would turn to make eye contact with me, which demonstrates respect for a person. Her IV insertion was flawless, the best I've ever had. Her care and empathy made me feel that she was on my team, while her skill and expertise made me trust her and feel comfortable. I was an emotional basket case when I arrived, and she made me feel safe and secure. My procedures went great and Kathleen kept me relaxed while I waited for my daughter to bring me home. My daughter is pursuing her nursing degree and when she arrived, I pointed out Kathleen as the goal to achieve. She is truly an angel upon this Earth.
