Kassie Strickland, BSN, RN
I am honored to nominate Nurse Kassie Strickland for the DAISY Award in recognition of the extraordinary compassion, professionalism, and exceptional care she provided during the birth of my daughter.
My labor progressed incredibly quickly, and because everything happened so fast, I was unable to receive an epidural. Facing an unexpected natural labor was one of the most challenging experiences of my life, but Kassie never left my side. Throughout every contraction, she remained calm, reassuring, and completely focused on helping me through the process. She coached my breathing, encouraged me when I felt I could not continue, and gave me the confidence and strength I needed to safely bring my baby into the world.
During a particularly intense and overwhelming delivery, Kassie stepped forward without hesitation. Her skill, quick thinking, and steady presence made all the difference. Even in the most stressful moments, she remained composed and instilled a sense of confidence and security that helped me through an experience I will never forget.
Following delivery, I developed complications and was not doing well. Despite the challenges, Kassie continued to provide exceptional care and unwavering support. When I wanted to take a shower in hopes that the warm water would help me feel better, she stayed by my side the entire time to ensure my safety. She never once made me feel like a burden. Instead, she treated me with patience, kindness, and genuine compassion while doing everything she could to help me recover.
What stood out most was the way Kassie cared for me as though I were a member of her own family. She continuously reassured both my mother and my husband that she would do everything possible to take care of me. Her combination of outstanding clinical expertise and heartfelt compassion made me feel safe during one of the most frightening moments of my life. I truly believe my experience, and possibly even my outcome, would have been very different had she not been there.
Because of Kassie, I not only welcomed my beautiful daughter into the world, but I also felt supported, protected, and genuinely cared for every step of the journey. Her dedication, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to both her patients and their families embody everything the DAISY Award represents.
I will never forget the care Kassie provided. She transformed one of the most difficult days of my life into one I can now look back on with gratitude. There were moments when I feared for both my life and my baby's, but Kassie remained calm, confident, and reassuring throughout it all. Her compassion, professionalism, and genuine love for her patients were evident in everything she did. She made an incredibly difficult experience more manageable and gave my family comfort during a time of uncertainty.
