My husband and I would like to nominate Kassidy R who was our labor and delivery nurse. During every single encounter, Kassidy was kind and compassionate and took the time to get to know us all while continuing to do her job. Throughout our many conversations, the loss of one of our twins from our first pregnancy came up, and Kassidy navigated the difficult conversation with the utmost compassion and empathy. Prior to going to the OR, Kassidy asked us if we had anything with us that we would like her to take into the OR so that we "had our boy with us." My husband had a card with his footprint on it in his wallet and Kassidy placed it in her badge holder and made sure that we had him with us. After our baby girl was born, Kassidy placed the card next to her on the warmer and we have a picture to remind us of that special moment. I cannot put into words what this gesture meant to us. As a nurse myself, I know how important it is to have compassion and empathy for our patients, and what Kassidy did for our family and how she treated us speaks volumes to her character. She is an incredible person and nurse and truly deserves the DAISY Award!
