Kassie and Leah, whom he shared went to school together and now work side by side, made an especially meaningful impact on him.
We are writing to express our deepest gratitude for the incredible care our father has received during his recent stay at Shannon Medical Center, and to formally recommend several of your outstanding nurses for the DAISY Award.

Our father has been hospitalized since Friday and was in the ICU until today. Over the years, he has faced numerous serious health challenges, including colon cancer, prostate cancer, blood clots, and now congestive heart failure. Because of these ongoing conditions, he has spent a great deal of time in and out of hospitals across West Texas.

We share this because he has experienced care in many different facilities—and he has made it very clear that Shannon Medical Center stands out above the rest. He has repeatedly told us how knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely compassionate everyone has been—from the nurses to the doctors. As his daughters, living out of state while he is in Texas, it brings us immense comfort to know he is being treated with such kindness while he is there alone.

There are a few individuals he specifically asked us to recognize.

Kassie and Leah, whom he shared went to school together and now work side by side, made an especially meaningful impact on him. He described them as incredibly attentive, compassionate, and dedicated—not just to their work, but to their patients as people. He even said they felt like “adopted daughters,” which speaks volumes about the connection and trust they built with him. They listened, showed patience, and provided care that went far beyond expectations.

He also spoke very highly of Michael, expressing sincere appreciation for the support, professionalism, and quality of care he provided throughout his stay. To be completely honest, our dad can be a bit of a “grumpy old man,” especially when he’s not feeling well. For him to speak so positively—and so consistently—about the people caring for him truly says something special about your team.

The compassion, dedication, and excellence they demonstrated have not gone unnoticed, and they made a difficult time much more bearable for both our father and our family.
We are incredibly grateful not only for these individuals but for the ICU team and the entire organization. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our dad.
