I was at Medical City Dallas for a total hysterectomy. I had never been in a hospital as a patient or had any surgery before this, except for an unplanned C-section 34 years earlier. I didn’t quite know what to expect from the hospital stay, but the care and gentleness that Kasia provided were incredible. Her sweet demeanor was very comforting to me when I needed it. She was my nurse upon discharge, and I had several questions while feeling a little anxious about a catheter that I had to take home, but she explained everything in detail and made me feel comfortable about going home. Kasia continued to care for me after my discharge from the hospital. Once I was home, I had a small issue with my catheter a few days later, and I called the hospital. She went above and beyond to assist me with my problem. I could tell that she truly cared about her patients and enjoyed going to work; it is not just a job that pays the bills for her. It takes a special person to be a good nurse, and Kasia definitely has the qualities it takes to excel in this role. She is very deserving of the DAISY Award.
