I would like to recognize the nurse shift manager, Karly for her exceptional leadership and commitment to her staff. She is actively engaged in supporting her team, especially during the challenging start of shifts, rather than solely concentrating on administrative tasks. Her staff values her open-door policy and approachable nature, which allows them to ask questions and seek help without fear of being belittled. She consistently demonstrates a professional and compassionate attitude, focusing on motivating and appreciating her staff, rather than criticizing them even when little mistakes are made. This nurse manager handles mistakes professionally. She pulls staff members aside for private discussions, demonstrating a more constructive and respectful approach to addressing errors.

When a staff nurse is frustrated and requests assistance because he/she is overwhelmed, Karly takes a different approach. She provides assistance without hesitation, completes her audits efficiently, and is always available to support staff in need. She represents the ideal nurse manager, providing empathy and sympathy to staff members navigating medical crises, family losses, and related issues. I nominate Karly because she provides valuable support to the nursing team. Despite her numerous responsibilities, she always manages her time to assist her staff. We feel comfortable communicating with her. She always listens and offers constructive advice. She always makes sure that all the nurses get breaks and have lunch before her turn to take lunch and break. She always walks around and asks if any nurse needs help with changing and repositioning patients. No matter how stressful and busy work flow, she always stays calm to help her staff when they need her.
