What stands out most is not just the care she provided, but how much of herself she gave her time, her patience, and her presence. She made me feel safe, respected, and cared for when I was at my most vulnerable.
First Letter from Patient's Family:

I am writing to formally commend Karina, the day shift nurse, who cared for my daughter for several days during her stay in the Critical Care Unit. From the very beginning, she demonstrated an exceptional level of attentiveness, compassion, and encouragement that made an overwhelming situation far more bearable for both my daughter and me.

As a mother, I was deeply concerned, yet Karina consistently took the time to explain procedures, treatments, and changes in a way that was clear, patient, and reassuring. She never made me feel rushed or dismissed, and her willingness to answer questions helped me feel informed and supported during an incredibly difficult time.

What stood out most was her genuine humanity. This superior nurse went above and beyond in her care, asking her to match her breathing in order to calm my daughter down, washing her with tenderness, and even rubbing her with lotion. Every time Karina interacted with my daughter, she touched her with genuine compassion. Her actions reflected not only professional excellence but a deep personal commitment to the well-being and comfort of her patients and their families.

Karina's compassion, encouragement, and dedication made a lasting impression on us. She exemplifies the very best of nursing, and I am profoundly grateful for the care she provided. Please extend my heartfelt thanks to her, and know that her kindness and skill will not be forgotten.

Second Letter from Patient:

I was very feverish and on a ventilator when my family was told that my nurse took a significant amount of time out of her shift to care for me. Even though I was unable to respond, she never rushed. She gently washed my face, rubbed lotion on my legs, and spoke to me the entire time. She talked to me about waking up, about walking again, and about how I was going to get better.

She treated me as if she knew I could hear her, as if I mattered, and that meant everything to my family during such a frightening time. After I woke up, she went even further to make sure I felt human again. Even though there were no showers available in the unit, she took the time and effort to get me to a full shower. In that moment, after days of being critically ill and helpless, I felt like I had my dignity back. That simple act made an enormous difference in how I felt physically and emotionally.

What stands out most is not just the care she provided, but how much of herself she gave her time, her patience, and her presence. She made me feel safe, respected, and cared for when I was at my most vulnerable. Her compassion went far beyond medical care, and I will never forget the way she helped restore my dignity and hope.
