Kari Sowards, MSN, RN
We would like to recognize Kari Sowards for the exceptional leadership she demonstrates as Nurse Manager of 4N. Kari consistently does a great job managing her unit, ensuring it runs smoothly while maintaining a strong focus on quality care and team engagement.
She excels at keeping her staff well-informed and actively engaged, fostering an environment where communication is open and collaboration is encouraged. Kari ensures her team remains focused on GEMBA metrics and, importantly, invites their input by asking for their suggestions—empowering staff to take ownership in improving outcomes.
Kari is also highly attentive to staffing needs and works diligently to ensure her unit is well staffed, supporting both patient care and team well-being. She listens thoughtfully to feedback from her staff and takes appropriate, meaningful action, demonstrating her commitment to continuous improvement and a supportive work culture.
Kari mentors and serves as a role model for her peers and staff. She leads by example with professionalism, accountability, and compassion, inspiring others to strive for excellence.
In addition to her leadership on the unit, Kari actively participates in hospital and system committees, where she consistently provides valuable insight and feedback that benefits the broader organization.
