She finds joy in helping serve as well as educating others.
Karen not only goes above & beyond to serve the staff and residents at her community at Ridge View Estates, but also is quick to jump in and help aid in other locations in need.  In the last year, she has helped to serve in Canby when their nurse had medical issues arise.  She served throughout the week at both locations and shortly after that, was called to serve in New Hope, as well.  Karen is always quick with a “Yes, I sure can!”

She finds joy in helping serve as well as educating others.  She is very passionate about being a resource for staff and new nurses and is beyond knowledgeable in her field.

When SAFE rolled out, she was adamant about getting the education out to staff, implementing our SAFE board, and encouraging staff to pitch in with communication and ideas.  Needless to say, we have one well-oiled machine in our facility, and staff utilize the SAFE board daily and appreciate her passion for SAFE!

Karen is a dedicated geriatric RN who never turns down a request for assistance from a sister facility. When asked to provide competency training to Assisted Living and Memory Care staff in Bemidji, she immediately agreed. Shortly before heading to Bemidji, she had a fall and broke several bones - including her leg. Anyone else would have cancelled on Bemidji, but not Karen! She brought her mobility aids to Bemidji and carried on as if nothing had happened. When the RN in Canby needed to take time off for cancer treatment, Karen readily agreed to fill in - even though it meant doing a crash course on using the full PCC Clinical module (an upgrade she did not yet have in Pipestone). Over the past years, Karen has provided interim RN coverage to multiple ALs in Southwestern MN as well as the Metro area. All while continuing to manage care of her residents in Pipestone. Karen is a kind and compassionate RN who heartily deserves the DAISY Award.
