Karen has been a longtime NICU nurse here at ILH, and her compassion shines through in everything she does. As a unit supervisor, she manages countless responsibilities between staffing, payroll, attending high-risk deliveries, and ensuring that the unit runs smoothly.

Yet despite all of that, she never lets these tasks distract her from what matters most, our babies. She will never walk by a crying infant's room without stopping to comfort them. She will swaddle, rock, feed, and read books to them. She greets all families with a warm smile. Her genuine love of our tiniest patients, her support for our families, and her kindness toward staff make her truly an exceptional leader.

Karen embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award, and she is the heart of our NICU.
