I truly believe that if Karen hadn’t been paying attention to me as a whole person, it would have been missed. She saved my life.
Karen is the kind of provider who really gets to know you. You’re not just another patient to her. She listens, she remembers things, and she pays attention. I came to her with a small bump on my nose and unexplained weight loss. My clothes weren’t fitting, and something just didn’t feel right. Because Karen had taken the time to get to know me, she noticed those changes and decided to check a few things rather than brush them off.

She ordered scans, and during one of them, she found a tiny spot on my lung, about the size of the tip of a pin. It could have been easily missed. Instead, she trusted her gut and scheduled a biopsy. That spot turned out to be lung cancer. Because Karen caught it early, I was able to have surgery and remove the top part of my lung. I truly believe that if Karen hadn’t been paying attention to me as a whole person, it would have been missed. She saved my life.

Karen is incredibly compassionate and easy to talk to. Our appointments are never rushed, and we talk just as much as we do medical care. She jokes with me, listens to my concerns, and makes me feel comfortable being honest. I never feel like I’m wasting her time.

I trust Karen completely because she listens and works with me, not against me. I’m very sensitive to medications, and when another provider told me my quality of life didn’t matter and that I would just have to deal with side effects, Karen took the time to listen and find a better solution. She adjusted my treatment, and now my health numbers are good, and I actually feel like myself again.

Karen understands that every patient is different. She knows what works for one person might not work for another. She has always respected my individual needs and never made me feel dismissed or unheard.

During my recovery, when I wasn’t bouncing back as fast as I thought I should, Karen kept digging. She ordered labs, figured out what was going on, and adjusted my care. She also reminded me to be patient with myself and realistic about recovery. She just has a way of figuring things out, and I truly believe that comes from how well she knows her patients.

Karen reminds me so much of my dad. He was an Army doctor and truly believed in getting to know his patients as people. He would stop and visit with them wherever he saw them because that connection mattered. The way Karen treats me feels exactly like that.

Karen treats me like a whole human being, not just a diagnosis. I trust her completely, and I am incredibly grateful she is my provider.
