Kara was my dad's nurse for multiple days during his hospitalization. He was in a state where he was not conscious, and his death was not planned, nor did we think he would leave us as soon as he did. Kara was kind, compassionate, and very patient with our huge family during the time my dad was in the ICU. She treated him like a person. Even though he was most likely not able to hear or see us, she still made sure to communicate with him and let him know what she was doing and when she was doing it. She saw our family mourning and provided empathy and compassion to us every step of the way. It is not easy being in her position, listening to our stories about how wonderful of a man my dad was, but she took time to do so to learn about the man she worked so hard to take care of. Even when most doctors told us he could not feel pain, she was there to give him medication as soon as we requested it. She helped my dad pass very peacefully, and we are forever grateful for that.
